Language Arts

For the time being, we are a Logic of English family.  Athena is about halfway through the Essentials curriculum, which has proven to be very complete and very enjoyable.  The boys are at different levels within the Foundations curriculum, and that has been so much fun and definitely seems to be giving them a wonderful framework to base the rest of their learning careers from.

I am definitely looking toward the future.  Soon we will be through these programs and, as of right now, LoE doesn't offer anything at a higher level.  There are a lot of possibilities to consider, but right now I am leaning toward either MCT Language Arts curriculum or Language Lessons Through Literature, mixed with phonogram review/ advancement and trait-based writing lessons.  These programs both have my primary requirement for a language arts curriculum: it needs to be all-inclusive (or have the ability to be easily tweaked that way).  They are also both very centered on books, and use these to teach all their related lessons, as opposed to being worksheets or texts full of manufactured exercises.
